ABOUT US

At Growing Better Lives , we believe in sustainable wellbeing on every level, from the individual to the ecological. Our Greencare projects have grown organically from the needs of the communities we work with. We co-produce all our research and projects, working collaboratively with Lived Experience members of communities. We were awarded a substantial grant as part of the EcoMinds programme run by the National Lottery and MIND to develop nature-based programmes within Therapeutic Communities. Growing Better Lives was then involved in an EU COST action programme (COST-866) which produced a conceptual framework for Greencare, published in 2010. We were awarded the first Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Sustainability Award in 2014 for our therapeutic programme based in a yurt in an environment centre near Slough. At Growing Better Lives we are committed to developing and supporting Greencare mental health initiatives and interventions, and encouraging connection with nature as a basis for wellness. In addition to this, we contribute to Greencare research, and we are dedicated to connecting and collaborating with Greencare projects nationally and internationally. In all our ventures, we aim to nourish relationships and grow our network through connection with others.
