Growing Better Lives

Laughter, sadness and tears!

Definitely the saddest day at Greencare ever because we are losing our horticultural therapist who has also become a good friend and a valued member of the group. Still, despite sadness and difficult feelings we are looking forward to new beginnings and the challenge of coping with change. We wish Alison very good luck in her new job, but secretly hope that they sack her in the first week!

Leeks dug freshly from allotment to make delicious leek and potato soup with the addition of our fresh herbs, kept warm on the wood burning stove in the yurt. Sheltered from the cold wind and icy rain but dripped on by condensation from the roof we all shared the ambience of togetherness and good wholesome food. Lots of laughter, despite sadness and tears, able to just be ourselves without judgement or stigma.

However, during an afternoon winter clean, came across the fungal growth shown in the picturemould, as Kermit the frog says, “it’s not easy being green”!

Looking forward to starting the first personality disorder scarecrow next week. Watch this space.
