Growing Better Lives

24th March: Eastery Day!

Eggs_2016_Rex Using natural dyes we coloured eggs to celebrate Easter in a traditional way, that of egg rolling. Beetroot, red cabbage, carrot, turmeric, onions were used to dye the eggs with varying levels of success. beautiful mottled, marbled coloured eggs were then hurtled in a gentle fashion downhill, until a winner reigned supreme. They call him the prof. We all think it’s a fix.    Anyway, Rex won, no prize apart from our love and goodwill. Hils came a close second, wait for a rematch next year.

Lambing_2016_lambs1Lunch on the hoof en route to Rushalls farm to enjoy a splendid visit, stroking Camilla the pig, feeding and patting the donkeys, holding orphaned lambs and, yes, stroking turkeys, rescued from the Christmas rush. It’s an organic farm, efficiently run on ethical principles which was obvious throughout. Greencare on a grand scale. The afternoon was rounded up with a tractor ride through the fields and woodland.
